Default Geordie old wives tales

I remember when I was a child, if I had a nose bleed my gran
would put a cold key down my back. Of course the bleeding
stopped but did the key have anything to do with it?.

Perhaps you have some old wives tails to tell.

I did this for my kids!! Still think that butter in sugar helps to ease a sore throat. We still use Vicks too! Haven't seen Thermogene around for many years though. My mam used to use that, also kaolin(sp) poultice. It was grey stuff in a tin, and had to be heated.

Does anyone still use a bread poultice? It was used to draw out an infection.

Is this an old wives tale?

"Get out of the rain you'll get pneumonia."

That's what me mother used to say to me.

Talking Re: Geordie old wives tales

Anyone else told "Never wash your hair if you have a head cold"

or what about "Keep your feet dry or you will catch the Flu"
