Hi Just Passing

I did a search on the South Tyneside Website as you can search on deaths on later years that Free bmd and came across a death in 1953 making him 68. I know he was alive in 1949 as he was in court when my dad got sent down to borstal. I did a search from 1945 with a ten year gap either side and there were a few but they all had middle names except for the one in 1953. My Grandfather John Harrison did not have a middle name as I have his birth certificate so it must be him and the records is registered in Jarrow.

I have emailed south Tyneside for more details fingers crossed.

I was right, i emailed South Tyneside Council and they confirmed that John Harrison died aged 68 in 1953 and he lived at 16 Clayton Street Jarrow.


thats where my Dad Lived with the family so John must have gone back to live with the family when his wife died. He is buried up at Jarrow Cemetetry.

16, Clayton Street would have been opposite Palmer's Hospital? (or did the low numbers start at the other end?) If it's opposite Palmer's there's a photo of the house on the site somewhere. ??
